Hipsters only pretend to non-conform because their insecurities prevent them from doing things they’re scared or unable of pursuing. Hence, the judgement of others to mask those insecurities, with an intent of demoralizing others (that have no problems pursuing whatever makes those people happy/proud/whathaveyou) down to their level.  Ultimately, it’s another form of hating.
